Do I have to be a member of ABPA to play pickleball at venues organised by ABPA?

Yes. However, there are some exceptions. For further information, go to our Policies page under “Our Club”.

Are members of ABPA covered by insurance?

Yes, they are. Members are covered in Australia at venues where pickleball is played PROVIDED THAT the venue is an  approved venue by our Club or a State Pickleball Association or the National Pickleball Association. See further information about ABPA’s insurance arrangements under membership benefits.

Can members of other pickleball clubs play at venues organised by ABPA?

Yes, they can play with us on one occasion, after which they are required to join our Club.

Are members of ABPA graded according to their skill level?

Yes they are. Members are asked to complete a skill level self- assessment form. For further information about the form, please go to our Club Rating page under “Play”.

Does ABPA have access to outdoor Pickleball courts?

Yes, 6 pickleball courts have been marked up in Avalon and we play there on Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings and Monday nights under floodlights. ABPA is discussing with Northern Beaches Council about a number of future outdoor venues.

Can I expect to play exclusively with my partner in social sessions?

No, we do not permit this. The essence of joining a sports club lies in the camaraderie with like-minded individuals who enjoy the diverse interactions with fellow members.
