Never played pickleball? Our Club requires all newbies to attend an introductory pickleball lesson plus at least one Supervised Beginner session before being allowed to book into a regular session. Our Club expects this so that you learn to play the correct way and to avoid disruption to our regular sessions.

We have placed our introductory lessons on hold, because our Club has reached maximum capacity. It is likely that the lessons will resume in late July. If you would like to be wait listed for a lesson, please email mail@avalonbeachpickleball.org.au.
75 minute lessons. The fee is $30. These lessons are for people who have every intention of joining our Club. When you join ABPA, you will receive a $20 playing fee credit through OpenSports.
The lessons are held on the outdoor courts at Avalon Beach (Barrenjoey Road). All bookings for lessons and regular playing sessions are done through OpenSports. If you would like to book a lesson, please join our Avalon OpenSports group. Available lessons:

What happens next?
After joining, it is likely that you’ll be required to book into a Supervised Beginner session. Supervised Beginner sessions are held indoors at the Avalon Recreation Centre most Saturday afternoons 2 – 4PM. The programme aims to ensure that Beginners have the confidence and skills needed to fully participate in regular sessions.
After you have attended a Supervised Beginner session, for insurance reasons, you are required to apply for membership before being allowed to book into regular sessions.
You can apply for membership of Avalon Beach Pickleball Association here: https://membership.avalonbeachpickleball.org.au/membership. Once the Committee has approved your application and you have paid the prorated annual fee, your name will be entered into the Register of Members.
You will need to join OpenSports (free) to book into each pickleball session. We use OpenSports to organise player numbers and attendance. Please follow these instructions to join OpenSports: https://avalonbeachpickleball.org.au/join-opensports/. It is important that you book in each time you want to play.
Unless you have been told otherwise by a member of the Grading Committee, you may only book into regular sessions which are for “ALL GRADES” or “INTERMEDIATE & BELOW” until you are upgraded to Intermediate.
